Blackberry smartphone users can now also experience the convenience of accessing files on the move with the launch of the Carbonite Blackberry App.

Just like its iPhone counterpart, the mobile application for Blackberry smartphones allows Carbonite subscribers to get hold of their backed up files even while on the road and at any time of the day. File formats available through the Blackberry app are varied in range including Word and Excel documents, PDFs, photos, audio files, and even videos.

With Carbonite’s new Blackberry application, subscribers will be able to:

•	Browse files. Finding documents will be a breeze as the folders are arranged exactly the way they were in your computers;

•	View them. It’s like having a miniature PC right in the palm of your hands. Download and open files, photos, videos, and whatever else you have backed up in your Carbonite account.

•	Pass them along. By sending them as email attachments, the downloaded files are yours to share with others.

This latest Carbonite application works with Blackberry smartphones operating on OS 4.6.1 and with a screen resolution of 240×320 or higher. These include BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 smartphone, BlackBerry Curve 8300 series, BlackBerry Curve 8500 series, BlackBerry Curve 8900 series, BlackBerry Bold 9000 smartphone, and BlackBerry Tour 9600 series. Now that’s a lot of happy Carbonite and Blackberry users.

The Carbonite Blackberry app is only one of the many quick and easy ways that Carbonite users can access their backed up data other from their main computer. There’s also Remote File Access (access through a remote computer via internet), and Carbonite for iPhone/iPod Touch. Incidentally, the online backup company has also recently introduced an upgrade to the iPhone app version 1.1.

So whether you have a desktop, laptop, iPhone or iPod Touch, Blackberry phone, or a remote computer at your disposal, there’s simply no way you won’t be able to gain access to your Cabonite Online files. Carbonite has made it that easy for you.

For those who haven’t heard about this yet, the Carbonite for iPhone app has already been available for Carbonite users and iPhone owners since early this year. Now you may not always have your laptop with you 24/7 but I’m pretty sure you’re practically joined at the hip with your iPhone. So forget about going home to copy that presentation you have on your desktop because now there’s a much more convenient way for you to access important files even while on the move: get them through your iPhone.

So if you’re not yet altogether convinced about going online for your storage solutions, here’s yet another great reason to consider jumping into the online backup bandwagon, particularly with Carbonite Backup. With the Carbonite for iPhone app, your documents, pictures, presentations, or anything you have entrusted to Carbonite’s servers, are literally right at your fingertips!

Here are the things you can do with Carbonite app on your iPhone or iPod Touch:

•	Browse through all the files you have in your Carbonite account.

•	View your word documents, presentations, PDF files, pictures, and videos right on your iPhone or iTouch.

•	Share any of these files with colleagues, friends, or family members. The documents will be sent as email attachments.

•	Access cached files offline or even without Wi-Fi or 3G connection.

Just remember that for both features, files from your initial backup, your most recent backup, and those requested for immediate backup are accessible.

Carbonite backup isn't perfect but in my opinion is the best online backup service available right now. In this Carbonite review you'll get the pros and cons of this service and you'll discover why I gave it my Editor's Choice award.

The Carbonite backup service gets its name from the fictional compound from Star Wars. Hans Solo was frozen in carbonite in Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Given the emphasis this online backup service gives to security, your files are probably just as indestructible as the compound it is named after! The Carbonite backup service encrypts your data files twice on your computer and then stores them encrypted on their secured data servers, making them virtually impossible to be compromised.

Having your data files fully secured is certainly most important when considering an online backup service, but ease-of-use, customer support, and the ability to easily restore your backed up files are important too. After reading this full review of the Carbonite backup service, you’ll see why I gave it my “Editor’s Choice” award. This backup service isn’t perfect, but it met most of the criteria I looked for when choosing an online backup service to backup data on my own computers! Yes, I actually use Carbonite. I tried others but ultimately I stayed with Carbonite.

Carbonite makes no distinction for home and business use as they only offer one service. While many small businesses will find Carbonite invaluable, it won’t always work because it lacks support for network drives. Carbonite is compatible with PCs and Macs. You can get started with the Carbonite backup service for just $54.95 for one year, and you can get it even cheaper if you sign up for a 2 or 3 year subscription. The company also offers a free 15-day trial which is a snap to try out because no credit card is required.

It’s not perfect as I’ve discovered reading reviews of Carbonite from other users of the service, but so far for me it has been working flawlessly and I have no complaints.

What I like best about Carbonite is that it’s super easy to use and incredibly cheap. You download this small program that runs quietly in the background of your computer without bogging it down either. That was my biggest fear-that it would slow down my computer. I had no performance issues at all and to this day I never have.

I backed up my files weekly to an external hard drive but I wanted more insurance “just in case” so I tried out Carbonite’s 15-day free trial. I was so pleased that after my trial period expired I signed up for a 2-year subscription. I figured for less than $100 it was cheap insurance. I still continue to do my weekly backups but it’s a “peace of mind” thing to know my files are automatically being backed up remotely. Now if my external hard drive crashes, it won’t be a big deal because Carbonite will have a backup of my files at all times.
