[display_podcast]

In this podcast I do a Mozy backup review where I give the general pros and cons of this online backup service provider. Here are just some of the highlights of this podcast:

Who is Mozy Backup Best For?
Mozy offers two online backup services – Mozy Home and Mozy Pro. As the name implies, Mozy Home is for home use and Mozy Pro is for business use. The Mozy backup review in this podcast covers the pros and cons of the home service.

Pros of Mozy Backup
Affordable
Safe
Secure
Automatic Backups

Cons of Mozy Backup
Initial backup can take a while due to constraints of upload speeds of Internet connections
Unlike some other online backup services, Mozy Home does not offer telephone support
According to some users, the support from Mozy Home overall can be spotty
The advanced settings that are available can be overwhelming to the average computer user

Listen to the podcast to here the details of these highlights or read the detailed Mozy review here.

Mozy vs Carbonite? Trying to decide which online backup provider is best? In this podcast I compare Mozy and Carbonite and give my recommendation.

[display_podcast]

In this podcast, I compare Mozy vs Carbonite and I give my recommendation as to which online backup service provider is best. Here are some of the highlights of this podcast:

Mozy vs Carbonite – They Are Virtually Identical!
Both founded in 2005
Both provide unlimited backup for less than $5/month
Both provide safe, secure, automatic backups

So Where Do They Differ?

Mozy and Carbonite differ in their pricing and subscription plans, and in their technical support. You can see a side-by-side comparison of Carbonite vs Mozy here.

Who Do I Recommend-Mozy or Carbonite?

I recommend Carbonite backup. I explain in this podcast why Carbonite has the slight edge!

[display_podcast]

Considering online backup solutions? In this podcast, I give an overview of these services, the pros and cons, and what you should look for when selecting one. Here are the main points I cover indepth:

Pros of Online Backup Solutions
Protection from data loss
Data is stored remotely
Convenient and affordable
Secure

Cons of Online Backup Solutions
There are a couple very slight risks involved with online backup.
You are trusting that the company you backup with will be around for the long-term.
There is also the risk that your data could be compromised.
Need to rely on another company and your Internet connection to retrieve your files.

What To Look For When Selecting An Online Backup Service Provider
Available features
Security
Price
Ease of use
Technical and customer support

Two companies that meet or exceed these areas of concern when selecting an online backup solution provider, read my review of Carbonite online backup and Mozy Home.

In this podcast, I discuss the positives and negatives of online backup vs hard drive backups. I also give my recommendation as to which solution is best.

[display_podcast]

Online backup vs hard drive backups – that is the question. The truth be told, they are both excellent solutions for backing up your computer files and data. Each has its pros and cons and neither one is a panacea to your backup needs. In this podcast, I talk about each type of backup solution and which one I recommend. Here is some of the information I cover:

Online Backup:
This is when you backup your files by uploading them to a remote, secured server via the Internet.

Here are the positives of this type of backup solution:
1. Protection from data loss
2. Your files and data are kept safely “offsite” so you’re protected from computer theft and local disasters like fires and flooding
3. Online backup services are convenient and affordable
4. Your files are securely stored at all times

Here are the negatives:
1. Slight risk relying on another company
2. Slight risk of having your files and data compromised
3. Restoring and retrieving files can take longer than hard drive backups

Hard Drive and Other Onsite Backup Solutions:
This is when you backup your computer by copying files and data to an extra internal hard drive or external hard drive (or to CD’s).

Here are the positives of this type of backup solution:
1. Instant and easy access to your files and data
2. Peace of mind knowing your files and data are in your physical possession

Here are the negatives:
1. Your hard drive used for back ups can crash just like your computer!
2. Having your files and data stored locally can be at risk for theft and other disasters like fires and floods

So which one do I recommend? I recommend both online backup and hard drive backups. I backup my files using a 500GB external hard drive and I use Carbonite online backup.
